Privacy Policy for Span

Span: Daily Path Puzzle

This policy explains what Span: Daily Path Puzzle ("Span", "the app") does and doesn't do with your information. The short version: Span does not collect your personal information, and the app does not connect to the internet.

1. What stays on your device

Span stores the following only on your phone, in the app's private storage:

  • Your daily puzzle results (date, time, number of backtracks and hints)
  • Your streak and longest streak
  • Your progress in Practice mode
  • Your settings (sound, haptics, reminder preferences, and whether you have seen the tutorial)
  • A temporary save of an unfinished daily puzzle, so you can resume it

This data is never sent to the developer or to any server. If you uninstall the app or clear its storage, it is deleted and we cannot recover it.

If you have Android's backup feature turned on, Android may include this data in your device backup. Such backups are managed by Google and your device settings, not by us.

2. What Span does not do

  • No account, sign-in or registration
  • No ads and no advertising identifiers (in this version)
  • No analytics, tracking or profiling
  • No collection of your name, email, location, contacts, photos or files
  • No internet access: the app does not request the internet permission
  • No sale or sharing of data, because we do not hold any

3. Permissions

  • Notifications: used only if you choose to turn on daily reminders. Reminders are scheduled locally on your device. They are not sent from a server.
  • Run at startup (boot completed): lets Android restore your scheduled reminders after you restart your phone.
  • Vibration: used for haptic feedback while you play.

You can turn reminders off in Span's Settings or in your phone's system settings at any time.

4. Sharing your result

When you tap Share on a completed daily puzzle, Span creates a short text with your time, backtracks, hints and streak and passes it to the app you choose through your phone's standard share sheet. The text never includes your solution path. What happens to it afterwards is governed by the app you share it with.

5. Sounds and vibration

Span plays short sound effects and uses haptic feedback. It does not use your microphone and does not record audio.

6. Information collected by Google

If you installed Span from Google Play, Google may collect certain information about installs, crashes and usage in line with Google's own privacy policy. The developer receives only aggregated, anonymous statistics in the Google Play Console. We do not receive any information that identifies you.

7. Children

Span is a general-audience puzzle game. It does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13.

8. Changes to this policy

If a future version of Span changes how data is handled (for example, by adding ads), this policy will be updated before that version is released, and the new effective date will appear at the top.
